The employees of Tempo Team, B-Bridge and Randstad are extremely disappointed with this action, as they made serious efforts and sacrifices for the company to aid in the struggle to overcome the financial crisis by agreeing to the reduced working hours and other harsh cost-saving measures.
Randstad employs close to two thousand people. UNI Europa is gravely concerned about this situation and hopes the company will engage in constructive consultations and dialogue with trade unions trying to ensure that employees who will have to leave the company will receive adequate support and compensation.
Belgian trade unions are meeting with the company to discuss a fair and equitable social plan for those employees who should leave the company. Robert Veekman, from UNI's affiliate LBC, said that employees felt let down by the company, stating that “some employees even had to learn about the restructing plan through the media.”
These actions in Belgium echo last year's in France, when one of the biggest temp employment agencies in the world announced huge job cuts.
UNI Europa TAW has sent a letter to the management of Randstad Belgium asking them to provide all necessary support and guidance if needed to the union delegates and all employees in Belgium.
