The UNI Apro Youth Breaking Through Workshop commences today in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia where 41 young unionists from 10 countries gather to challenge themselves as future trade union leaders.

The workshop is conducted with the support of the Federation of Information and Communication Technology Service Workers of Japan and has participants from ICTJ Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Nigeria, and Kenya.

The opening today will be graced by special guests Mohammed Shafie B.P. Mammal, President of UNI Malaysia Labour Council, and Kazuhiro Goto, Vice President of the ICTJ Japan and President of KDDI.

Participants can look forward to 5 days of fun and learning where they will give reports of their home countries and unions and break into committees that will focus on specific tasks to support the smooth-flowing of the workshop. Participants will also embark on an outdoor adventure where they will explore the city of Kuala Lumpur to observe and record the impact of globalisation on society.
