UNI calls for action over death threats sent to Luz Fany Zambrano, President of SINTRASALUDCOL

Since last week Luz Fany Zambrano, president of the Colombian healthcare workers union SINTRASALUDCOL, and her son have received anonymous telephone calls threatening her with death and naming other family members to try and intimidate her.
During the same period a bomb exploded in front of the private healthcare company, Saludcoop’s headquarters, where President Zambrano often has meetings with the company.
UNI Global Union strongly comdemns these death threats against Luz Fany Zambrano. Phillip Jennings, General Secretary of UNI Global UNION and Adriana Rosenzvaig, Regional Secretary of UNI Americas demand that the Colombian government guarantee the security and safety of President Zambrano and her family.
UNI expects the Colombian government to do everything in its power to protect President Zambrano and make sure that those responsible for these reprehensible actions are brought to justice.
