The magnitude of violence against women and girls

Between 30% and 50% of the world's female population have been victims of violence.

140 million women and girls of have subjected to female genital mutilation.

Between 50% and 70% of all the women killed in the world are killed by their partners.

Is it any wonder then that the theme for International Women's Day, 2013, is Violence against Women and Girls?
