Sister Cheung Lai Ha, General Secretary of Retail, Commerce and Clothing Industries General Union, and Brother Michael Sui, former Chairman of UPOE, made a visit to the JPGU Headquarters 4 July 2012 en route to the UNI-Apro Commerce Committee Meeting held in Tokyo, Japan.



Hiroshi Usuki, President of UNI Apro Post and Logistics Sector and President of JPGU, warmly welcomed two unionists as they engaged in talks about the current political, economic, social situations, and union movement in Hong Kong and Japan.



In the exchange of opinions, President Usuki said, “the trade union movement is very important in terms of protecting workers’ rights, improving working conditions and wage, and others. At the same time, it exists for the business, society, and nation. Trade unions have to make great efforts for the people, local communities. It is difficult for divided union movements to materialize these. Divided unions must be one for larger objectives. If this approach is realized, a unified union movement could contribute to a whole society.”



Both Sister Cheung Lai Ha and Brother Michael Siu agreed on his views while sharing their opinions on the topic. The visit was conducted on a tight schedule but was very productive.
