The Third UNI Americas Regional Conference took decisions to promote union growth, the formation of strong unions in multinational companies and collective bargaining as a tool for sustainable development.



Additionally, the conference sought to implement a that ensurest the drums for justice and the defence of human, labour and union rights are heard wherever they sound.



The event had an excellent participation of members and guests: 94 unions from 33 countries represented by 125 delegates, 88 observers and 198 guests, as well as the enthusiastic support of our members in Uruguay.



During the Conference we had the opportunity to hear the voices of colleagues who are the protagonists of our campaigns and who are building the history of UNI Americas. They are the everyday heroes and heroines who are fighting for the respect for human, labour and union rights in extremely adverse conditions.



We were proud to honour the workers who were kidnapped, detained, killed and who disappeared during the brutal dictatorships that plagued the region, and who, despite torture, prison and persecution, continue to have the courage and determination to continue fighting for memory, truth and justice, as well as building and defending democratic and inclusive societies.



The Conference also adopted 13 motions, which constitute the Work Plan to be launched during 2012-2016.
