SACCAWU members at the Development Bank of Southern Africa have decided to embark on protest action in the face of growing arrogance by management in its relations with the Union over the last two years.

In 2008, despite a deadlock on wages and other remuneration related matters, the DBSA decided to unilaterally impose its proposals on workers. And while the Union have attempted to resolve that dispute the DBSA deny such a dispute exist and refuse to continue engagement on the unresolved matters from 2008, while preparing to the same in the next round of negotiations.

It has become clear that management at the BDSA once again intend to unilaterally impose their proposals onto the workers. SACCAWU members and supporters at the DBSA have decided to embark on a series of legally protected actions starting with a protest on 26 March 2009 at the DBSA to coincide with the Board meetings.

Workers demand that management return to settle the outstanding issues from the 2008 negotiations and further refrain from unilaterally imposing wage increase for 2009/2010. The Union further call on the Board to prevail on its management to respect the Union and workers rights and seize from undermining the Union and workers.
