12% unemployed in € area: August 2013 showed no significant change in the unemployment rate. Worst hit countries are Greece (27.9%), Spain (26.2%), Cyprus and Croatia (16.9%), and Portugal (16.5%).

Youth unemployment in EU28 stands at 23.3% and 23.7% in the € area. In August 2013, the highest youth unemployment rates were recorded in Greece (61.5%), Spain (56.0%), Croatia (52.0%), Italy (40.1%), and Portugal (36.8%).
