A UNI-led campaign to highlight workers’ rights abuses at Amazon received widespread press and social media coverage after fantastic support from affiliates and other global unions.

Amazon’s Prime Day sale, which marked the company’s 20th anniversary, was renamed Shame Day during a joint campaign with UNI affiliate Ver.Di.

Amazon's two decades have been marked by an impressive record of violating trade union and workers’ rights, precarious jobs, the use of invasive monitoring techniques, constant pressure, and a domineering attitude towards authors, publishers and small online retailers. It has also become a master in the use of tax-dodging tricks which has deprived communities for many years of tax income that runs into the billions.

The #ShameDay campaign was featured in amongst others German national daily newspaper Die Welt.

UNI’s tweets reached more than 120,000 people and received hundreds of retweets. On Facebook, UNI alone reached tens of thousands.
