Remploy workers fighting for their jobs and dignity

UNI affiliate Unite is leading the fight back – Unite members will strike at the factories on Thursday 19th and 26th July.



Since 1946 Remploy has supported thousands of disabled people returning to work, from ex-service personnel to people born with complex disabilities. Instead of a commitment to help the most vulnerable people in society, the UK government is making life worse for them. Remploy provides real jobs for many hundreds of disabled workers, giving them the confidence and dignity to be active and to contribute to society. Closing the factories will cause real hardship and leave them dependent on benefits with little hope of employment.

Our Remploy members have been overwhelmed by the messages of support they have received following the shameful announcement that 27 Remploy factories are to close imminently – with a big question mark hanging over the fate of the rest of the sites. But Remploy workers need YOU this Thursday. This is their second day of strike action and they need YOUR support once again!

If you can visit one of the picket lines that would be fantastic and will give even more strength to our members in their continuing fight for a fair deal. Details of where the Remploy factories are can be found here.

There should be pickets at all these sites from early morning on Thursday, 26th June. If you can spare ten minutes, please do all you can to visit a picket line in your area - it really does mean a lot.

We will be delivering a document containing all the messages of support to the Government ministers responsible for these shameless decisions showing the solidarity of working people across Britain. Messages such as: "Shame on you Iain Duncan Smith!" "You are right to stand up for jobs!" "Your future is worth fighting for!" "What the government is doing is wrong!"
