UNICARE calls for affiliates to sign a letter of protest from UNIA against Senevita (Orpea) management demanding they stop putting profits above well-being of workers.
UNICARE is urging all UNI affliates to show support for our Swiss affiliate UNIA and workers at scandal-hit Senevita (Orpea)
Director of UNICARE, Adrian Durtschi said, “We fully support this initiative of our Swiss affiliate UNIA. The message is clear: do not maximize profits at the expense of the well-being of your staff. Poor working conditions and overworked employees are a recipe for disaster for all parties, including the employees themselves, the residents and their families and ultimately the company. An unsustainable, profit-only ethos will eventually destroy a company. We urge all UNI affiliates to follow the link and add their name to the letter of protest.”
Affiliates can sign the protest letter addressed to Senevita management here: Https://actionsprout.io/24F28A/ ”
The translation of the German text of the letter is as follows:
“To the Directors of the Senevita care homes at Pratteln and Spreitenbach,
The concerns raised within Senevita retirement homes are extremely serious: homes are understaffed and employees suffer poor working conditions. They are subject to constant pressures and stress, and it is only thanks to the workers’ spirit of sacrifice that the welfare of the residents has been guaranteed so far. It cannot last!
We invite you to finally resolve the problems at your establishments and to ensure that the well-being of your residents and staff prevails over the race for profits at Senevita!
Engage enough staff and create good working conditions. It is impossible to provide the same level of care when efficiencies and cost-cutting are the priority. Finally, invest in people, rather than maximizing profit!”
