UNI Apro facilitated a network meeting amongst a number of print and electronic media employee’s trade unions in Islamabad, Pakistan.

All Pakistan TV Employees and Workers union’s President Pervaiz Akhtar Bhatti chaired the network meeting, held on 15th October 2016 in Islamabad. Senior trade union leaders representing employees in Pakistan Broad Casting Employees’ Union, All Pakistan Press Employees’ Union and SRBC/ATV Employees’ union participated at the meeting. 

UNI Apro Asst. Regional Secretary Rajendra Acharya introduced the UNI MEI structure and its priorities to the media unions in Pakistan. Challenges faced by the media industry and the changing working conditions and the impact on employees were discussed at the meeting.

In order to unite the trade unions representing employees in private and public sector print and electronic media unions, with a view to increasing trade union density  trade union leaders signed a memorandum of understanding to launch a media workers trade union federation in Pakistan.
