In the aftermath of a 6.2 earthquake in central Italy which has seen the loss of at least 247 lives, UNI Global Union expressed its solidarity with the Italian people.

UNI Global Union General Secretary Philip Jennings said, “In this sad and painful moment, all our thoughts are with the people affected by this disaster.”

“The images of destruction and despair remind us that nature’s fury can wipe away countries, homes, lives and histories in a matter of moments. On behalf of UNI Global Union and UNI Europa, I would like to express our deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims.”

“We would also like to express our solidarity with all the towns and villages affected, and pay tribute to the heroic efforts of relief workers racing against time.”
