UNI General Secretary Philip Jennings addressed the UNI Global Union Management Committee during its two day meeting in Nyon. Jennings agreed with UNI President Ann Selin that the whole UNI family is "pumped for Liverpool",  refering to the UNI World Congress in 2018. The Management Committee agreed that the labour movement, and especially the service sectors which UNI represents, faces unprecedented challenges: including attacks on unions and decent work, the future world of work and the effects on jobs, and trade agreements being developed under the cloak of secrecy. 

The importance of youth to future of the labour movement was underlined by UNI Youth President Daniel Carlstedt. There was a willingness amongst all members of the Management Committee to reignite the call for young people to join the UNI family and the broader labour movement.

UNI ICTS Global President Andy Kerr drew attention to the 39,000 Verizon workers in the US out on strike action because of the cynical actions of the management to put profits above everything else including the well being of their loyal workforce. President of UNI Europa Post and Logistics Ingeborg Saetre spoke about the challenges facing Europe, not least the digital revolution and its effects on her sector.

UNI Global Union's Management Committee is made up of the Presidents and Regional Secretaries of UNI's regions and sectors.

Director of UNI Apro Tokyo office Yoko Ogawa outlined the challenges facing Japan. Watch this video where she outlines the efforts to promote more young women leaders 

UNI Americas Regional Secretary Adriana Rosenzvaig as well as UNI Americas President Ruben Cortina and other members of the Management Committee from the Americas reported on the challenges to democracy facing both Brazil and Argentina undergoing effectively coups. UNI Africa Regional Secretary, Zakari Koudougou briefed the Management Committee on the UNI Africa Regional conference which will be held in Dakar, Senegal in March 2017. He said that Africa was entering a new stage in creating a robust and dynamic union movement and that it was important that women and young people were not only given a voice but also positions of responsbility in the movement to push it forward. At the conclusion of the meeting UNI General Secretary Philip Jennings thanked the Management Committtee and the entire UNI family for their commitment to "Making it Happen" - the theme of UNI's World Congress in Liverpool 2018 - for working people who are suffering in a political and economic environment skewed to the 1%.
