As workers and activists all around the globe celebrate International Justice Day, the eyes of the world will turn towards the reprehensible and irresponsible employment practices of Spanish security giant Prosegur in Latin America. The struggle with Prosegur is about fundamental rights—freedom of association and the right to engage in collective bargaining.  These are rights that all workers deserve. On the contrary Prosegur workers in Latin America, face harassment, and violence.  

Head of UNI Property Services Alice Dale said, “International Justice Day is an important opportunity to recognise the important work of security guards and cleaners globally.  This is “ground zero” in Chile, where Prosegur security guards, against all odds, are on a courageous month-long strike for dignity and respect while Prosegur works to break the union.”

Workers in 100 cities across the world are involved in International Justice Day in order to highlight and celebrate the indispensable work of security guards and cleaners and to ensure that their rights at work are respected. These workers are united in condemning the actions of Prosegur on a global scale.

Throughout Latin America, workers are engaged in strikes, protests and sending messages of support and solidarity to put a stop to the mistreatment of Prosegurs workers in the region.

These actions follow up on Embassy actions in over 15 countries worldwide, where the message was loud and clear—workers deserve fair treatment and fair pay everywhere that Prosegur operates.
