On May 15-16, 2015 in Singapore, UNI Equal Opportunities and UNI Apro Women with the FES support, launched the first Workshop for the Mentoring Program in the Asia Pacific.  21 women leaders and activists forming 10 tandems from 7 countries in Asia (Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nepal, Philippines and Sri Lanka) participated in the workshop.  They represented 17 unions from different UNI sectors such as Care Services, Commerce, Finance, Graphical, ICTS and Post & Logistics and were nominated by the Liaison Council of each country.

In the Opening workshop, they were given guidance on the project, expected roles of mentors and mentees, structure of global trade union movement and UNI's activies on Equality - Campaigns "That's Why", "Break the Circle of Violence", "40for40" and "Equal Pay" etc.

Each tandem identified issues and priorities in their union/country as well as anticipated obstacles and possible solutions in the two-year project.  Finally, both mentors and mentees signed the agreements by adopting their own action plans with time frame.

Everyone is very much motivated and committed to make it success.  They have lots of creative ideas and ambitions to spread our messages for promoting equality, increase the active participation by more young women and increase women leaders in the union.
