In a previous story published here on March 20, details were given of the struggle currently faced by the home help workers in Madrid. They had called for an indefinite strike to defend their collective agreement, which was to be preceeded by a demonstration on March 28.

We are happy to announce that following the pressure from the planned demonstration, as well as the  massive influx of workers to the assemblies, the employers and unions have reached a preliminary agreement in which social and working conditions are improved.  On Saturday 28, a general assembly adopted by acclamation the draft agreement and thereby ended the conflict. Proof once more that a collective struggle gives results. Well done to these workers and their shining example of unity and strength!
