Japan Post has launched a new service for the elderly residents of Japan which includes reporting on health and living conditions to their families, transport to senior care centers as well as providing basic nursing care services. Japan post can also provide personal shopping services for senior citizens. These services can be provided against a set payment.

Getting more value and better jobs out of Japan Post's comprehensive network is a long term plan that has lead to many planned services. For example Japan Post wants to rent its unused facilities to child care centers and nursery schools responding to the lack of infrastructure in this area.

Finally it plans to let out its well placed post boxes as advertising spaces.
