Two weeks after a planned nationwide strike was called off due to progress in talks with Royal Mail, the Communication Workers Union in the UK have again announced that talks are progressing. The union have announced a seven day extension in the validity of the existing industrial action ballot as they continue in talks with Royal Mail following the British post office's privatisation late last month. 

CWU Deputy General Secretary Dave Ward said in a statement, "It has been agreed that negotiations should continue with a view to resolving outstanding issues." The union are currently negotiating with Royal Mail around issues of pay and protections and industrial stability. The extension of the industrial action ballot moves the deadline for action to November 27.
