On Tuesday 15 April, workers of Deutsche Post, members of the Ver,di union took strike action to warn Deutsche Post to take seriously their demands for proper collective contract negotiations. This affected letter and parcel delivery throughout Germany. He union has said this is the “steam in the kettle”, failure to conclude proper negotiations scheduled for Thursday and Friday 17-18 April will mean the “boiling water” is let out! The union says that Should there be no solution of the conflict, a long-term strike threatens.



Deutsche Post are demanding a negotiation that includes a longer working week and job losses, whereas Ver.di have been demanding at least a 7% wage increase over a period of twelve months.
