The SEIU has concluded 4-year contracts with the 4 largest private security employers in Washington D.C. These agreements provide 1,500 private security officers with the higher wages, health care and other benefits they need to support their families.



From April 9, 2008, officers under the agreements will earn a minimum wage of USD12.40 per hour. Average wages and benefits will increase by 30%, while some officers will earn as much as USD4.00 more per hour. For the first time, all full-time officers will receive employer-paid quality health care and part-time officers and their families will receive employer-paid ancillary benefits for prescription drugs, dental, vision, and life insurance



The employers concerned are Admiral Security, AlliedBarton, Guardsmark and Securitas, who cover 75% of the commercial office buildings in Washington, D.C.



Washington workers achieved these impressive gains with the support of city councilors and local clergy.
