Workers in Bangalore, Kochi and Kolkata took action to celebrate International Justice Day this week, joining security guards and cleaners on 6 continents in their demands for fair working hours and living wages.

On 13 June, 60 G4S workers gathered at the Bangalore Regional G4S guarding office. The workers, with the Private Security Guards Union (affiliated to INTUC), presented their charter of demands to management. Although the gathering was peaceful, management had arranged for the police to attend and took photos of workers present.
	The police followed the delegation into the meeting, where management agreed to respond to the union on their demands within 15 days.
In Kochi, nearly 100 workers, along with the All Kerala Security Workers Association (affiliated to INTUC) gathered on June 15th at a workers' convention. The workers discussed recent events in the Security for Security Workers campaign and the global campaign for justice at G4S. The meeting resolved to continue to pressure G4S to honour the agreement made with the INTUC and CITU in January 2008. Workers then led a short demonstration to reinforce this message. Over 800 workers have joined the All Kerala Security Workers Association since its formation in September 2007.

On 13 June, the Paschim Banga Security & Co-workmen’s Union (affiliated to CITU) sent a delegation to the G4S Kolkata regional office to present a charter of demands to management.
