07/14/2008 - The EWC in AXA makes a good example of how an EWC can and should work. Projects on training and facilitation of information sharing are among the initiatives making the EWC well functioning and one of the EWC’s ahead.

EWC-secretary, Daniel Vaulot, from AXA was invited to present experiences and good practice at ETUC-conference on European Work Councils.



“The insurance sector is highly international and characterised by intensive restructuring and outsourcing. This makes a well functioning EWC extremely important”, says Daniel Vaulot. Part of the initiatives to assure a good internal corporation has been a training project to integrate new members and develop the corporation after the merger with Winterthur and Alpha insurance, which introduced several new members from Central and Eastern European countries.



The EWC also has it’s own web site. This tool is important to inform employees of the work in the EWC and to make sharing of information more simple.



AXA has 68.000 employees in Europe and activities in 53 countries. The EWC has plenary meetings twice a year, but the Bureau, consisting of 12 members, meets once a month to ensure continuity of the EWC work.
