Representatives of UNI-MEI, and the two performers’ internationals FIM and FIA, making up the International Alliance of Entertainment and Arts, met on 28 October in Marrakech, Morocco, following the FIA congress which was held the previous days. The primary points of discussion were follow-up to how the three organisations work together as a single entity within the Council of Global Unions, increase cooperation on such issues as intellectual property and, especially, improve still more cooperation in the regions, both in Europe where it is already quite close, and in developing unions elsewhere, where a great deal of work remains to be done. Among the possibilities discussed regarding the later was a proposed health and safety project with production workers in India, possible overlapping events in Korea and renewing some activities together with the cultural workers’ unions of the former USSR. Participating for UNI-MEI were Heinrich Bleicher-Nagelsmann and Jim Wilson, for FIA were Agnete Haaland, president, Dearbhal Murphy, deputy general secretary, and for FIM, John Smith, president, Benoit Machuel, general secretary. Officers of the Alliance, elected yearly, named this time were Smith, president, and Machuel, secretary.
