Securitas finished 2008 with a number of acquisitions which will bring its operations into new countries and new markets in Asia, the Americas and Europe.



In December, Securitas entered the security market in Hong Kong, with its acquisition of the company Polic Secuforce.  



In the same month, Securitas acquired Grupo Guardias Blancas in Mexico, which will add 1,500 new employees and will extend the company's operations into the tourism, retail and maritime sectors in the south east of the country.  Securitas is expected to be the second largest security provider in Mexico following the integration of this purchase in early 2009.



Finally, the acquisition of  Agency of Security Fenix (ASF) will make Securitas the market leader in the Czech Republic and will provide its first step into the Slovakian market.  Agency of Security Fenix employed around 1,250 people in the Czech Republic and around 200 in Slovakia at the time of the acquisition and holds a contract portfolio including banking, office buildings and government clients.



UNI's Global Agreement with Securitas provides a basis on which UNI affiliates in each of these new areas can open a dialogue with the company, seek union recognition and organise Securitas workers.
