 ALL NTT Workers Union of Japan (NWJ) launched a "One Day Fair Trade Cafe" in conjunction with their general conference on February 13th, 2009 at Chiba Prefecture, Japan.



To promote the need for consumers to be conscious of the merchandise purchased and services used should be as a result of fair trade and as part of the contribution back to the society “Social Movement Unionism” promoted by UNI Apro Youth, NWJ launched this innovative Fair Trade Café!



Trade unions officials are encouraged to try out the coffee sold at 100 yen for one cup of coffee made from fair traded coffee beans and 300 yen for fairtrade chocolate. The proceeds of the sales will be donated to the “Payatas Feed the Children Project” in Philippines and “Child Labour Group in Forum for NGO” -Trade Union in International Cooperation.



NWJ and UNI LCJapan Post & Telecom together with UNI Apro are concurrently having joint projects in the Apro region to promote and integrate youth as a network to strengthen trade union movement and at the same time provide an opportunity for youth to participate actively in a social movement that works with the community to bring about a better world for all.
