"If banks don't trust each other, how could they be trusted by the public?; we need rules and effective control; finance workers must be involved in the process".



This is the key message that UNI europa Regional Secretary Bernadette Ségol conveyed to the President of the European Commission, Mr Barroso, and to the Prime ministers of the EU Troika, Mr Topolanek (Czech Republic) , Mr Reinfeldt (Sweden) and Mr Zapatero (Spain).



The summit is expected to launch an initiative leading to an employment summit on 7th May. UNI europa together with ETUC is insisting that priority should be given to keeping people in jobs.



The Regional Secretary called on the General Secretary of the European Banking Federation present in the summit to enhance the dialogue with UNI europa for better regulation, protection of workers, and reforms for a sustainable, customer-oriented and risk conscious finance sector.
