The survey was conducted by an independent research institute and aimed at assessing the stress level of Sasbo's members, identifying drivers of stress, as well as understanding the risks associated with work-related unwellbeing.



This survey is the most comprehensive study on workplace stress in the history of the South African finance sector and it contains evidence that employment in the South African banking sector demands higher workloads, levels of burnout and over-commitment than the rest of the finance sector.



"These findings have not come as a shock. It was because we, as Sasbo, long suspected that our banking members are being subjected to abnormal levels of work and stress, that we have commissioned the survey", says general secretary, Shaun Oelshig.
