France Telecom, amongst the world's largest telecommunications companies, released its corporate social responsibility report this week. The company cited its global agreement with UNI to demonstrate its commitment to "a global social policy that respects fundamental social rights and individual freedoms". Under our agreement, France Telecom agrees to respect fundamental labour rights, to implement a dynamic employment policy regarding training and development and gender equality and to promote ethical principles in relations with its suppliers and sub-contractors.



The unions who make up UNI's France Telecom Alliance continue to work together to organise workers throughout the company's operations and to ensure that basic labour rights are respected. The Alliance meets with the company several times each year to monitor enforcement of the agreement.



The company's CSR report measured its performance against the internationally-recognised Global Reporting Initiative guidelines and AccountAbility's AA1000 standards. Independent auditors at Deloitte reviewed the report and gave limited assurances that the report met GRI and AA1000 standards at a reasonable level (saying that they could have given greater assurances with more time to do the work).
