It was a hard fight for the Trade Unions in the Netherlands with the management of DHL Express. The concern strategy no extra money or benefits for the employees forced the Dutch Union to threaten with strikes and a big manifestation in front of the Deutsche Post DHL headquarter in Bonn/Germany.



FNV Bondgenoten organised several reunions with the DHL workers and received all over the country the full support in their demands. The management saw no other way than sending spies into the Union meetings. This is a clear violation of Trade Union rights and intimidation of workers.



After discovering this incident, the attendance of Trade Union meetings without allowance and incognito, the central management in Bonn distanced and insured this wouldn’t be a company strategy. The company will investigate in clarify this occurrence and apologized officially.



All signs were already on fight, when the management decided in the last second to give in. Friday, the 9th October, an agreement was signed from both sides. Now the employees have a wage increase of 1,5% in 2010, two extra payments and rules about flexible and temporary work. This shows that the intimidations by the management were fortunately not successful and doesn’t make sense at all when strong Unions are present.
