George Miller, a member of the US Congress and Chairman of the House Education and Labor Committee, yesterday issued a statement on the American Rights at Work report regarding labour rights at Deutsche Telekom.



The report, called “Lowering the Bar or Setting the Standard? Deutsche Telekom’s U.S. Labor Practices,” provides comprehensive evidence about T-Mobile USA threatening workers who supported the union and offering incentives to workers to abandon their support of the union. T-Mobile USA's training and instructions for its managers on aggressive union avoidance strategies are revealed, as well as evidence of the company limiting and interfering in employees’ communications with the union.



Miller says “The report documents questionable labor practices plaguing T-Mobile and highlights the clear need to better protect workers’ fundamental rights in the United States. While the parent company, Deutsche Telekom, promotes positive labor relationships with its workers in Germany, and while many expected a similar approach to its workers in the United States, today’s report indicates that T-Mobile is not a chip off the old block. American workers deserve better.”
