Turkish affiliate Basin-Is have advised that the strike by printing workers at Ekart which commenced on the 16^th June 2008 has now ended.



Members at Ekart had been on strike for nearly 2 years over the right to collective bargain and be represented by their Union.



Following protracted negotiations, striking workers agreed to accept the social package and approved the Union to sign the protocol with the Company.



After the outcome of the court hearing, the union signed the protocol, appointed a representative in the workplace and officially ended the strike on the 4^th March 2010.



The workers are to be congratulated for their long struggle and their determination and are now looking forward to positive outcomes through the protocol that is now in place.



Basin-Is thanks everyone involved in the dispute and are appreciative for the international solidarity and support from UNI Graphical, Verdi and other affiliates.



Ekart is partly owned by Gieseke & Devrient (G&D) who are one of the world’s largest security printers.



A meeting of the G & D global network will be held by UNI Graphical later in the year.
