Through Global Agreements, UNI Global Union is seeking to achieve power and parity for workers at multinational corporations, promoting, implementing and securing fundamental workers’ and union rights wherever a company operates. UNI promotes global agreements as the route to responsible business as they provide credibility to a company’s claims that it is a socially responsible corporation. UNI Global Union has set itself the target of 50 Global Agreements by the time of the World Congress in Nagasaki in

2010.





Currently, we have signed agreements with Carrefour, H&M, Inditex and Japanese retailer Takashimaya. The latter was the first Global Agreement signed by a Japanese company and UNI affiliate JSD achieved the agreement by integrating CSR concepts into their approach to the company by developing “social partnership”.





The concept of “Social Partnership” is also at the core of the relationship between Indonesian retailer HERO and UNI affiliate ASPEK. This relationship paved the way for the launch of the first ever tripartite national sectoral dialogue in the country.
