At 10:30am Monday 19th July 2010, the Human Rights and Development Foundation (HRDF), the State Enterprise Workers Relations Confederation (SERC), the Thai Labour Solidarity Committee (TLSC) and other labour/human

rights networks and Burmese migrant worker groups met at Government House in Bangkok to petition Thailand’s Prime Minister Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva to urgently investigate DKBA Deported Burmese Migrant Abuse Allegations at the

Thai/Burma border with a letter entitled: “Open Letter Requesting Investigation of Claims Migrants Deported from Thailand Facing Human Rights Abuses by DKBA.



The issue/campaign was taken forward and agreed upon in a meeting on Monday with most of the GUF Thai affiliates present, and Sawit Keawan and Mr. Kwaan (SG of SERC and Secretary to TLSC respectively) are taking the lead in liasing with the PM's office for submission of this letter and in the campaigning.



A letter supplemented by reports from media coverage on the issue has been submitted to the Thai Prime Minister and negotiations are currently underway to secure a meeting to discuss this issue with the Prime Minister's Office.
