HSBC Bank Malta Off Shoring

A letter to union members
MUBE has registered a Trade Dispute with HSBC since pressure and tension is mounting around the working environment particularly at the Operations Centre.
As already stated, MUBE is extremely disappointed by the fact that the Off Shoring process is now in its third stage and it is becoming more obvious that peace just cannot be the order of the day thus causing uncertainty and considerable stress to HSBC's working environment. MUBE is also informed that no concrete plans for on shoring seem to be in place.
WE repeat, it is useless in continuing with such practice while at the same time everyone is expected to make the necessary effort to ‘make HSBC the best place to work’. It is not what was agreed to between HSBC and MUBE. For this reason, MUBE has notified bank in line with Collective Agreement requirements. Action will be taken accordingly.
Obviously, it is also evident that even after the meeting at Operations Centre, employees are left with a ‘fear factor’ which Bank seems to be ignoring. As we have already said, management has not been able to attract or rather 'onshore' any new business as had been suggested and since it is also obvious that displaced employees can only increase, MUBE is quite aware that displaced employees are easily becoming ‘victims’ of the infamous ‘4’ rating. That is an easy way out to justify the ‘notorious’ bell curve which is also creating unwarranted tension amongst staff. This is mainly the employer’s fault due to the policies being implemented.
As all Malta knows, HSBC Group Malta is a performing group – Performing employees deserve better.
