The Canadian postal workers union, CUPW, has made a comprehensive global offer and have told Canada Post that no single item or group of items may be accepted without the acceptance of all other items in the global offer. As well as providing a summary of the Union’s positions this global offer also contains proposed contractual language, side letters and costing information. The union are now therefore seeking to negotiate a settlement of the collective contract negotiations for when the current collective expires 31 December this year.



In the meantime, the Canadian Government under the provisions of the Restoring Mail Delivery for Canadians Act, which was imposed on the union, has appointed an arbitrator to try and resolve the collective bargaining dispute between Canada Post Corporation and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (Urban Postal Operations Unit). The arbitrator has been appointed to hear and decide the outstanding issues in the dispute.
