UNI Affiliates in Sri Lanka nominated 11 women for the National Empowerment course on developing campaigning and organising skills, held from 22-24 August in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Out of 26 participants 11 were women and 12 participants were youth. This was the first activity held after the 3rd UNI Apro Regional conference held in July 2011, where is the affiliates agreed 40% to 40% campaign towards better gender equality.



Three days training course instilled confidence and empowered the participants in campaigning and orgnising to increase trade union density. Young men and women were also motivated to take up responsibilities in trade unions.
