Delegates from local unions as well as from the different regions took part in the seminar that aimed to promote the issue of health and safety in film production in India. Often the sets lack even basic facilities such as drinkable water, toilets and separate dressing rooms for women. Many of the issues faced by film workers are caused by the fact that all labour legislation is not applied to them, and those laws that are, are not implemented to their full potential.



The seminar was addressed by two legal experts on the application of the different laws and the possibilities of improving the coverage of labour legislation on film workers. Delegates also reported back from their respective regions on the current state of health and safety. The seminar ended with the adoption of a resolution demanding basic amenities such a safe drinking water as well as the appointment of safety officers at filming sets.
