UNI Global Union is supporting workers at Atento Mexico who are fighting for a real, democratic union after being given just hours notice of a new (third) union election that took place on Wednesday 10 November. UNI called on Atento's Spanish parent company Telefonica, which has signed a Global Agreement with UNI, to ensure that Atento management would not interfere with the election. However, the third election was rife with management interference and workers who wanted to vote for democratic union Sindicato de Telefonistas de la Republica Mexicana (STRM) were denied a fair chance to cast their ballots. UNI will continue its work with STRM to win a fair vote.



Many affiliates marched with STRM to an Atento call centre in Mexico City during our Inaugural UNI ICTS Global Union conference in Mexico City this October.
