A common project on good practices on dealing with demographic changes was presented. According to the criteria set up in the joint declaration on demography of 2010, a comprehensive booklet is currently being produced. t is the outcome of the project submitted to the European Commission by Insurance Europe (formerly CEA) on behalf of UNI Europa Finance, Bipar and AMICE. A one day dissemination conference will take place in Brussels on 14 June 2012 and a follow up seminar is scheduled for 21 September 2012 in Prague.

Participants also shared experiences on the implementation of the joint statement at national/company level. Another topic was Restructuring: Mr. Vasquez from the European Commission (DG Employment) presented the Green Paper “Restructuring and anticipation of change: what lessons from recent experience?” UNI Europa will submit a response to the consultation on this Green Paper.

Ms. Blanck-Putz from DG Markt gave a presentation on Remuneration policy in the EU (EU corporate governance framework,

also linked to Solvency II rules and a possible impact for employment contracts and collective bargaining agreements in the insurance sector. Both the trade union and the employers’ side were very concerned about a possible undermining effect of Solvency II to already negotiated collective agreements.

The next working group meeting of the Insurance Social Dialogue will take place on 5 June and the next plenary meeting will take place on 19 November.
