Bro. Fukuoka, JPGU Executive Committee member in charge of cooperative, and Bro. Ito, UNI Apro Director of Post and Logistics Sector, participated to this seminar. The joint seminar was organized first time, since the new leadership of SPPI was elected at their Congress in November 2011. Since then, around half of union officials were changed and they are mostly new people. The seminar was targeted to the empowerment of new leaders of SPPI. Around 30 workers gathered at Grand City Hotel and learned basic training of trade unions. Bro. Fukuoka delivered his lecture on the current situation of Japan Post. He described Japan Post situation as a challenging, but difficult. Currently Japan Post and union try to tackle political agenda, Postal Reform Bill, which will be submitted to the Pariliament soon. Postal counter company and Mali delivery company will be merged under the new law. A lot of questions were asked about his presentation. Bro. Jaya Santosa, President of SPPI, thanked Bro. Fukuoka and Bro. Ito for their contribution for the seminar. He wanted to hold the same type of seminar various places in the country.. In the evening on 25 March, Bro. Fukuoka went to Bandung, where he met Pos Indonesia management. He explained Japanese postal privatization as failure, because strict separation of Japan Post into 4 companies didn’t produce any positive result. Currently, Pos Indonesia has a plan to break up Pos Indonesia into 5 companies, namely mail and parcel, posmart, logistics, financial services, and properties. Bro. Fukuoka asked Mr. Entis Sutisna, HR director, not to repeat the mistakes in Japan. He also visited SPPI HQ and exchanged information of postal services of both countries.
