UNI World´s President, Joe de Bruyn, joined the meeting to welcome the group to Australia. He was delighted to see women from 20 countries coming together in the beautiful surroundings of Melbourne.



Ged Kearney, President of the Australia TUC, also attended the meeting and after her poignant speech, she graciously answered the questions of her colleagues while everyone shared in a coffee break.



The World Women’s Committee developed the strategic priorities, discussed model policies for equality, and adopted an equality clause to be included in the Global Agreements. They thoroughly examined a variety of topics, such as, the Financial Crisis in Japan, Migration and Trafficking, and Violence against Women. They also shared inspiring stories about UNI Europa Area 4 women, standing in solidarity with UNI Tunisia Women´s network fighting in support of the Arab Spring.



The colleagues from SDA, Australia presented on organizing and bargaining for young women and elaborated on their fantastic experiences in recruitment. After their presentation small groups discussions ensued where conclusions were developed regarding organizing and bargaining.



The World Women´s President, Denise McGuire, shared a meticulously organized timeline outlining everything that needs to be done up to Cape Town 2013.



The next World Women’s Committee Meeting will be held in Nyon, Switzerland on March 2013.
