UNI Finance signs a”European Social Charter Employment Management” agreement with BNPPARIBAS



Today in Paris, BNPPARIBAS, represented by Human Resource Director Frédéric LAVENIR and UNI Finance, represented by Sébastien Busiris and Ana Andrade, the secretary of the European Works Council, as well as a delegation of members of the bureau and FECEC have signed the “European Social Charter Employment Management” agreement, which will cover all Europe within the BNPP group as per 1 September 2012, with a validity of 3 years.

This agreement is the outcome of 18 months of negotiations with BNPP management, the European Works Council and the European Trade Unions.

At the end of June this text was unanimously endorsed by the entire European Works Council.



The text defines social management of employment issues for the BNP Paribas Group entities which are present in 20 countries and constitute the European Works Council.



This agreement which will not intend to substitute to national legislation or national collective agreements has as its main objective the development of social dialogue at the European level.



It must, among other things, allow in all European countries, improved information of employees about the various developments and restructuring plans of the company.



This agreement marks it’s commitment to the principle of joint management of employment and the main priority of social dialogue.



The agreement recalls the obligations of BNPP in terms of:



· Motivations and justifications of reorganisations

· Evaluation of consequences to employment (jobs)

· Presentation of accompanying measures

· A timetable of implementation



The text aims for greater transparency for staff representatives in countries faced with particular law still somewhat restrictive in terms of information and consultation.



UNI Finance’s signing of this agreement is intended to continue developing and building of social dialogue at European level in banks.



This agreement is the first part of a European Social Charter, which aims to be completed with other issues like:



· Professional equality between women and men

· Prevention and monitoring of psycho-social risks



UNI Finance will participate in these negotiations with the aim to achieve for its affiliates within BNPP a “European Social Pact”.
