UNI Affiliate in Namibia the union NATAU has delivered a double success in the last week. Firstly they have won a recognition agreement with local Security Company VICMAC, a small but emerging new company that employs 275 Security Guards. The company was unknown to the union just a few months ago, but once they were contacted by workers with the company, NATAU moved swiftly to sign workers up and achieve a union density that gives them recognition. The next step is to negotiate a bargaining agreement with VICMAC and start to improve the conditions of the workforce.

They have also submitted a Recognition claim to the Minister of Labour for the company Namibian Protection Services. This company is the second largest in Namibia, employing over 1,500 Security Guards.

The union has achieved this after nearly 2 years of the Organizing Project started, supported by UNI. NATAU's work is continuing to win recognition with the largest company in Namibia, G4S.
