The unions making up the Deutsche Telekom Union Alliance came together in Zagreb, Croatia on 9-10 October to review progress made and plan future coordinated activities. During the meeting, the unions presented the results of a worker survey that the Alliance carried out earlier in the year, and to which it received 1,800 responses. The survey findings, which will be published later in the year, concluded that workers’ rights are not respected in DT’s subsidiaries as they are in Germany, and that 49 percent of the workers surveyed believed that DT trains managers to discourage union activity.

To remedy this situation, the Alliance, which includes unions from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Germany, Greece, Montenegro, Serbia, Romania and the US, demand that Deutsche Telekom respects workers’ fundamental rights throughout the DT group and engages in global social dialogue and sign a Global Agreement with UNI.
