Dear colleagues,

We would like to invite you to the workshop on outsourcing in the ICT sector on 13 December 2016 in Brussels that UNI Europa ICTS is planning.

Objective of the Workshop

This one-day workshop will be the main event of a EU funded project that is looking at the different outsourcing flows and strategies of companies in the ICT sector. As trade unions, we know that the increasing tendency of companies to outsource specific services and job functions heavily impacts on the working conditions of employees. Moreover, it is often very difficult for trade unions to organise in outsourced companies.

Therefore, UNI Europa ICTS is running a project to better understand the different outsourcing strategies of companies. We have commissioned the Austrian institute FORBA to analyse outsourcing flows and we will present the findings of the research at the workshop. Moreover, we will discuss concrete organising experiences in Europe related to outsourcing. The aim of the workshop will be to better understand the challenges and possibilities regarding organising in outsourced companies and to help affiliates to develop their own trade union strategies for organising in outsourced companies.

Participants

We would like to invite all interested UNI Europa ICTS affiliates, but especially those colleagues who have been dealing with outsourcing. This could be at the level of your trade union organisation, as shop steward in a company or if you are an active EWC member who has been involved in the topic. A special focus will be laid on Central and Eastern European countries who are a key destination for outsourcing in the ICT sector. We would in particular appreciate the participation of colleagues coming from these countries and to share their experience at the workshop.
