After weeks of preparation and intense campaigning, workers at TV3 voted overwhelmingly for union representation of Executive staff at TV3. Out 700 workers over 70% voted for the union.

The TV3 Executive Union General Secretary, Bro. Shahrul Azman said "all the hard work has been fruitful and we can now effectively represent all executive staff at TV3. The union will now start working towards the improvement of conditions that should be brought to the TV3 executive staff".

UNI MEI Malaysia President, Bro. Khairuzzaman said "all the guide and assistance from UNI Malaysia Liaison Council (UNI MLC) and its President Bro. Shafie and the union leaders from Astro Productions, Al Hijrah Union and Primework Studios Union have been so valuable and helped colleagues at TV 3 to achieve this victory".

The bordacasting unions are putting a tremendous effort into organising the channels and production houses in Malaysia. After winning recognition at Astro Productions last year, this is the next win in 6 months’ time. Our joint organising efforts bear fruit and we will not stop growing the unions’ presence, said Bro. Shafie, President of the UNI MLC.

The broadcasting unions, which have set-up a working group “UNI MEI Malaysia” in March to ste-up cooperation and mutual assistance in organising, are now turning their efforts to campaign for recognition at another Media Prima Company, Primework Studios. A secret ballot is scheduled July to set-up a union for executive staff.

The Malaysian broadcasting unions are supported by the UNI MLC and a UNI organising fund project, which targets the major companies.
