“We are interested in getting to know about the situation of Kimberly Clark workers in the world and the work being carried out by UNI Graphical,” said Bro. Roque Flores, General Secretary of the Kimberly Clark Workers Union in Bolivia.
On August 20, 2008, at the locale of the Graphical Workers Union of Santa Cruz, Bolivia, three members of the Kimberly Clark Union Management Council of this country (Roque Flores Condori, General Secretary; Wilfredo Flores Aguilar, council member; Alfredo Téllez, member) held a meeting with Marvin Largaespada, Regional Director of UNI Graphical Americas.
Marvin reported on the objectives and main tasks of UNI Global Union at the meeting, and spoke about UNI Graphical In particular and the work the Global Network, UNI@Kimberly Clark, is carrying out, underscoring the importance of a global network that links all the unions representing the workers of this company. “More unions join this network each day, and at the same time we are working to organize unions where there are none,” highlighted Marvin.
As a conclusion to the meeting, the union leaders expressed their interest in belonging to the UNI Graphical Union Network on Kimberly Clark. They reported that in April this year they signed a collective bargaining agreement and are currently trying to achieve a reversal of the imposition of Internal Regulations that were established without consulting the union.
UNI Graphical, along with the USW, is taking the necessary steps to meet with this company, an event that may take place in the next few months.
