UNI Global Union, and Brazilian unions led an international

union delegation that met with some 400 union members at Santander's

headquarters in Sao Paulo on Thursday.



The 50 trade unionists around the world talked about their experiences

with the company in countries ranging from the global headquarters in

Spain to the United States, Colombia Costa Rica and the UK.



Those experiences make it clear that a Global Agreement will help set

basic standards worldwide to ensure all Santander workers have basic

rights, including the right to join a union and the right to bargain

collectively.



The delegation is in Brazil to launch an international campaign to get

banking giants Santander and HSBC to sign global agreements with UNI

to ensure workers' rights worldwide.



Another delegation met with HSBC executives at their Sao Paulo offices

to press the case for the Global Agreement.
