Sandd and Selektmail have to give postal deliverers a permanent job

Sandd and Selektmail now have to employ their postal workers under a permanent contract after all. The

minimum requirements, which the Ministry of Economic Affairs imposed on them, will remain in force, the court in

The Hague ruled yesterday. The Ministry considered it unacceptable that Sandd and Selekt Mail stuck to paying

piece wages so that in case of illness they did not have to continue to pay social contributions and that TNT

started to replace their postal workers by part-time workers. Therefore, it demanded at the last step of the

liberalisation last year that Sandd and Selektmail also have to offer an employment contract to their delivery staff.

On September 30, 2012, 80 per cent of the postal workers will have to have a permanent job.
